I am Mark Hames. I have spent the past 22 years at The Charlotte Observer in numerous roles. Hames Studio was the name of my great-grandfather’s business. William Edgar Hames was photographer in Rutherford County, N.C., starting in the late 1800s. A portion of a self-portrait is above right.
